FRIENDS OF ACADEMY SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The Sunraysia Academy of Sport (SAS) was launched in 2005 and is one of six Regional Academies of Sport (RAS) in Victoria and 12 in NSW.  The aim of the network of RAS is to assist the emerging athletes of our region in becoming the best that they can be in sport and life.  The academy has four athlete development programs they are; Golf, Volleyball, Basketball and Tennis.

Each of the programs has an extensive calendar which includes training, competition, and the academies sports science and support services to assist the athletes in reaching their potential in sport and life.  Some of the sports science and support services we provided include Sports Psychology, Sports Nutrition, Strength and Conditioning, Fitness Testing, Time Management and Goal Setting, Media and Public Relations and Athlete Career Education.

Athletes in the academy pay a subsidised athlete levy which in the past has been greatly assisted by generous sponsors.  .  This is necessary as the total academy package and service that the athletes receive is costly and we simply require the payment of an athlete levy to deliver our programs and to maximise athlete benefits.  However the current economic situation has seen sponsorship drop dramatically hence the need for our athletes to be on the look out for more support.

Our ‘Academy Friends’ is now in its fourth year and now, more than ever, we need your support.  This program allows athletes to pursue Academy Friends (individual sponsors) to assist in covering the costs of the athlete levy.

The minimum contribution they can receive is $30 with $20 being credited directly to the athlete's academy account to offset the program levies.  athlete levy with the remaining $10 helping to absorb the costs of the Academy Friends benefits and administrative costs.  In turn the Academy Friends will receive a sticker, a letter of thanks, have their details added to our extensive database and receive a copy of the most current newsletter. The major benefit of this program is the fact that the cost burden faced by academy families can be alleviated and it is therefore more easily affordable by our families.
